Surgery Updates

Kelly was taken to surgery at 7:45 am this morning. It took an hour to position her and surgery began at 9:30 am. We have had two updates so far, at 10 am & 12 noon. Both times we were told things are going well and her vitals are good. Dr. Weinberg will be with her another 2-4 hours and then Dr. Hanasono will take over for another 5-7 hours. Updates will be given every 2 hours and we will then update the blog.

Thanks for all the prayers and comments. Kelly will be so happy to read them tomorrow. What a nice Valentine for her to see how loved she is!

2:45 pm UPDATE

The surgical nurse just told us Dr. Weinberg is finishing up & Dr. Hanasono should be taking over shortly. She said all went well, Kelly's vitals are good and that she had several units of blood given to her. The next update should be around 4:00 pm. Also, Dr. Weinberg should be coming to speak to us as soon as he is free so an earlier update may be possible. So far so good!

4:45 pm UPDATE

As David said, the tumor is gone! Dr. Weinberg said all went well, with the almost complete removal of the tumor after 11 years. Dr. Hanasono is closing the wound now and has decided to NOT take the back muscle & skin graft but instead try to close it by using the existing skin. If it does not take by mid-week next week they will need to do the skin flap surgery. Please pray for Kelly that all goes well and she will heal better than hoped for in the next few days. We will update when Dr. Hanasono finishes, hopefully in the next hour or two.

Dearest Kelly,
My sisters, Terri and Linda, and I, with our little mother (Aunt Lillian) have been praying both together and when we are apart for your complete healing and restoration. We have prayed that you would be resting in the palm of our sweet Lord's hand throughout this surgery, and that He would guard and protect you and guide your surgeon's hands.
We love you so much, Kelly, and thank God for the blessing of you in our lives.
Be strong dear heart, this pain will pass and you will soon be on the mend.
We love you,
cousin Kathy and Aunt Lillian
OXOXOXOXO
