Dec 26

Hope everyone is having a WONDERFUL holiday season and you all got what you wanted for Christmas.

Friday, 12/22 was the last radiation treatment. They gave me two weeks off and then we're going to start chemotherapy. My hip and back are feeling much better, I can already tell the radiation did some good. Since I've been on serious pain medication for 2 months, I'm going through withdrawls trying to get off of them. It's like I have the flu. They ran tests on my tumor and it doesn't look like the Gleevec is working, they told me to stop taking it. Too bad, if it would have worked, I could have substituted it for the traditional chemo. Gleevec is the new type of chemo that just targets the bad cells and doesn't have all the bad side effects like hair loss.

They are going to do another PET scan in two weeks to see which tumors are growing and then the doctors will figure out the type of chemo to put me on.

I appreciate all the emails, cards, and positive thoughts. Thank you so much.

Kelly

Merry Christmas Ms. Kelly! I am glad to hear that you think the radiation worked somewhat, although disappointing about the chemo. I know all about the withdrawls from the pain med's, it's amazing how quickly you can get used to the way you feel on them. The good news is that with the 2 week break, hopefully you have some good days not filled with nausea and exhaustion.

We are in Palm Desert visiting my parents and Bam. Giorgi, Rob and Sam came yesterday and Kevin's parents are visiting from South Carolina - so we all had dinner together last night. My dad is sitting right here with me and wants me to tell you "Hi!" and tell you that he is thinking about you. My mom goes to church several times a week, and you are in her prayers each time.

I have some very fond memories of spending New Years Eve with you. Many smiles and much laughter was had by all. You were always such a great hostess!

I wish you love, peace, happiness and most importantly health as we embark on 2007. Every new day brings a new corner to turn, and much anticipation of things to come and uncertainty of what the future holds. It is one of my greatest wishes that this next year brings you everything that you so rightfully deserve my dear friend.

On that note I'll say to you, "Cheers!" and I'll be off to have a cocktail with you in mind.

Love you. And miss you tons!

Hi Cuz,
It was a crazy Christmas this year with dad at the care center. He is getting better slowly but surely. Victoria, her husband Jory, her son Rory and his girlfriend Maureen came from Boston area for the holiday. They leave tommorrow. Cyrina, her husband, Clairesse, her daughter came for dinner. We went to the care center for lunch took some homemade tamales and enchiladas the to my house for BBQ spare ribs, not very traditional but it worked.
Glad to hear that the radiation worked sorry the new drug did not. Hope Char was a good nursemaid for you. Is Marla coming back? I would love to come visit you when you are up for company, I am only a few hours away. Let me know when the time is right.
I am wishing you and David a Happy New Year, by the way is he doing ok? Did he already have his procedure done? I am sending hugs through this silly computer to you and wishing you the best success with your treatment this year.
"Cheers" Love you , cousin Cher

Happy New Year Kelly!
Here's wishing you a great 2007 filled with love, peace, happiness, health, and more. I have a good feeling this year will be a good one!
My mom and I (and family) have continued to keep you in our prayers. We said some prayers yesterday at Mass. We really like the new (young and handsome might I add too) Irish priest, Father Doyle. A few weeks ago Mom and I baked our irish soda bread and made a gift basket for the priests. We interrupted there happy hour...they were drinking wine and martinis. I thought you might like that story.
We really hope you are feeling better each day and wish you continued progress.
I just uploaded photos of our visit with you on my new computer last Aug.
Love to send them to you. Do you have an alternative email address?
Well Kelly, I will write again.
Every good wish for 2007!
Love,
Shannon and Family
