Hi Ho Hi Ho, It’s Off to the Hospital I go…..

Here is the latest “medical” update – My Oncologist called late Friday, 5/4, with the results from the Brain & Spine scan I had on Tuesday, 5/1. The doctor was pleased that the brain scan looks very good, and in fact, may show some shrinkage in size. As far as the spine, the oncologist wants my Neuro-surgeon to review the scan, however it appears the compression fracture on my spine is probably the cause of my intermittent dizziness. Bottom-line we decided this is not a reason to postpone the 3rd round of chemo.

I was told to show up at the doctor’s office on Monday morning (today) at 9:00AM, and as long as my blood work came back okay I could be admitted for the next five days. The upside is my white cell count was right on, however, I am anemic and had to get a “booster” shot to get back on track. Although my suitcase was packed & in the car, they sent me home until tomorrow when I will start my 5-6 days of treatment. I’ve got my Ipod, books, Bibles, To-do Lists, etc. and I am ready as I can be to be locked away for the next 6 days!

BTW – I’m a new “Great” Aunt this week! John and Amy (Marla’s middle son) had their baby girl, Hannah Kelly, on Sunday, May 6th. And of course, Marla’s oldest daughter Rachel had her baby, Corina Aleze, last month. Congratulations to the Hansen Grandparents – they did good AGAIN!!

Also, Marla & Miranda left this morning after a ten day stay with me. We had a great time together, and they were a lot of help while they were here. My cousin Cher (what a fantastic cook!) came to visit for the weekend and my friend Pam, who is now living in New Jersey for work, also came to visit this weekend. We had a fun “girls” weekend – with David!

That’s all the update for now – I’ll be off the net for the next week, as the hospital does not have internet access (OLD SCHOOL!!) so I will send an update upon my return.

As always, I send my love and best wishes to you and your families as I think of each you often.

Love,
Kelly

Well, once again, Marla has messed up. She didn't even call me about the baby, perhaps it's because she has so many grandchildren (meaning, of course, that she is much older than the rest of us, right Char?) Here's a kiss for you Kelly, take care and you are always in our prayers. Bet Marla and Cheri kept you in stitches!

Kelly - I wish I'd gotten a chance to write to you yesterday so I could've connected with you before you hit the hospital for round 3. But I'm thinking about you and sending my love your way.

Dear Kelly,
As I sit here with ice on my thumb, still, I am smiling at the great weekend with you, Marla(just like the old times in Southgate)and David. It was great to catch up and meet your family, Jack and Buster Brown. Miranda it was great to meet you too and be a part of the exciting 3 am phone call or should I say phone calls.
As for cooking it was a joint effort and the Farmers Produce Market was a big plus. By the way I stopped there on my way home and bought a bunch of produce to bring home. Maureen your enchiladas were so tasty as they were the main course.
Kelly you are such a city girl I love it...Marla and I are just the opposite, we are truly Aunt Meta's Kin, hey by the way has anyone seen a monkey for sale.(ha ha) Oh she was so cute I loved that monkey.
Kelly I am so happy that your white count was up I know that you were geared for the success of the next treatment. You are so loved by all of us, thanks again for having me. I'll be back. Love you Cher

Dear Bloggers of Kelly~

Wow, that sounds like a cult!
Anyway, yes I messed up again Maureen, however I have a bag full of excuses! I have traveled between California & Oklahoma 4 times in 6 months. When I am home I have an 86 year old con man living with me. As if these two things are not enough to make the sane go psycho, my children keep having children! I hardly know where I am anymore to be honest!

As for your wishful thinking comment about me being older than you and Char, let me remind you of something. You two may have changed my diapers at one time but I will soon be changing yours !!

BTW~ I was heating up the casseroles you made while I was at Kels. It was great because I could throw together a great dinner & tell everyone I made it! hahahahaha

Cher~ How much fun did we have, sister!! Kelly said to tell you that the three of us voted & you are now an official Casas sister. Be afraid, be very afraid! We are definately going to plan a GIRLS ONLY weekend for the spring. How much fun would it be for all the girl cousins to have a yearly "sister" weekend together. We need to pick a new spot every year as we more than likely will not be welcomed back a second time. :-) That's my motto. Have such a good time they never want you back! So far it hasn't worked with Kelly. I keep trying to drive her crazy when I'm out there but she seems to like it.

We had 8 tornados pass through the other night. I told Kelly the next day. I was explaining we couldn't get Dad into the cellar or as we call it, the fraidy hole. We had the girls situated so I stayed in the closet with Dad. Kelly got all huffy & said she would never forgive me if Dad & I died because we weren't in the cellar. I told her the entire house could fall in on the old man & he would be fine. This guy is SUPERMAN!! He is not going anywhere anytime soon. This gave me an idea! The next time we have a tornado heading this way we are going to tie Mr. CFC to a tree in the front yard. With Dad's luck, the tornado will take one look & head the other direction. Kelly didn't like it but I think it could work.

How funny that you want a monkey. I have asked Bob for a monkey for the last 30 years. He thought I was talking about children obviously! I have the cutest picture of Beverly holding Willa Mae. Now that I think about it, my first grandchild is named Addee Mae. I wonder if that was a subliminal message to make me stop asking for a real monkey. Addee's dad is definately a BIG MONKEY!

John & Amy have a houseful of her family right now so we are going to wait & head to Florida on the 21st. They sent pictures & Miss Hannah looks just like her daddy! I spoke with John yesterday & gave him the talk. The one I have saved for each of my children when they have their first child. The basics of it are this: It's Payback Time!! John did not think I was funny. I however, find myself to be quite humorous.

I don't know Marla, I guess you just can't keep up. You think just cause you take all thos trips and take care of Uncle Charlie, 7 kids and 5 grandkids that you are busy. Well! just wait till you get as old as I am then you will know what busy is!! Char and I will definately NOT need any diaper changing but you will have to run to keep up with us

I am so excited to be part of this blog. As I e-mailed Maureen this morning, watch out for Marla and Cher together, they have always been the dynamic duo! I think between them they must have about 5,000 animals!! Oh, and when the monkey comes that will make 5,001. It doesn't matter to me I love my baby sis anyway and my top priority is to get BACK to the Central Coast as soon as I can. I know there is good care there when I get old!! :)....Cher? Really, I owe Cher so much that when her kids have their babies I have to be there to be the chef babysitter!!
YES, on the "sister" weekend!! I am there. You are welcome to come east if anyone from the west will be willing to cross the rockies. I have loads of room here. Beds and bedrooms everywhere.
Kelly, I am thinking of your everyday and you are in my prayers. May the healing white light shine on you always.
I miss and love you all

Victoria

Hi Cuz,
Just checking in before I go and stay the night at my m-in-law's. Kelly is staying home with gramps. I have been taking him to outpatient therapy this week. What an experience. He is now able to latch his seatbelt if I get him to the car 10 minutes earlier. I only got called stupid once today, but the day is not over yet.
The therapist said when he is unstable and walking that I need to hold onto his shirt and pants. He grabbed dad's shirt and pants really tight and dad just stood there. So I tried that this afternoon when he was going down the stairs and he got so mad. I TOLD the therapist it wouldn't work with me. Wonder if the therapist hypnotized him first. ha ha.
My thumb is still sore but I am still working out. I can finally move it. The young man was in the gym today with me and the trainer. Just the 3 of us. I told him what I was thinking when I fell. He decided we were cool so he would stay while we worked out. Funny Guy. Now my thumbnail is purple. Guess it will probably fall off.
Maureen between animals, kids and old dads, Marla and I are pretty good at changing diapers and cleaning up POOP....Marla maybe we should start a wayward house for our OLDER COUSINS. I also heard Maureen that you have Corgi's. Kaitlyn just got a puppy and he looks like a bear.
Marla I am trying to catch up with you on grandkids, I have three the problem is they are all four legged. I can just picture you trying to get Mr. CFC in the fraidy hole, boy are stubborn old coots, no amount of pushing will make them budge if they don't want to. Glad you stayed safe.
Kelly I am thinking about you everyday and sending you white light to heal your body and shrink the tumors. I love you cuz, Cher

Hi, Kelly and everyone on the blog. Well I am headed to California this weekend with my oldest son, Ryan, and my two darling grand children, Abbie and Terry, to help Cher the best we can and take the wee ones to visit Gramps.it is so great to hear marla and Cher having so much fun with the older generation! Yikes!
Where is Char and Barbara Keely? I just stopped to call Barbara to tell her I was going to be on the C.C. next week so we are going to try to get together. I always have so much fun with her.
Hey, Cher don't have to much fun with the old man before I get there. Save some of those diaper changes for me!!
Kelly, your in my prayers.
Love to you all,
East moving West...

Dear Bloggers of Kelly~
I am going to attempt to give you all an update on the old gal. She called me today & asked if I would since her internet is down & won't be up & running for a few more days. I will warn you now, she said I could say whatever I wanted to say. I think she was heavily medicated at the time. Never-the-less, she asked for it! :-) So here goes~
Shortly after I left kelly's, she went into the hospital for her 3rd round of chemo. All seemed to be going fairly well until Sunday when she was scheduled to go home. After testing for the cause of her latest swelling of the legs the doctor found two blood clots. He says this is VERY RARE. REMEMBER THAT PHRASE! This meant several additional days in the hospital. Of course, this was not the hoped for outcome so Kel was a bit.....well.....MIFFED! She is finally home now. I wonder if nurses get combat pay.
Fast forward. Kel gets home. She's taking it easy to allow the meds to rid her of the blood clots. She starts to itch. SHINGLES!! The doctor says that's VERY RARE.
Now let's think back a few years. Kelly has headaches, etc. They say it's a benign mengioma. Not to worry even though it's VERY RARE.
Over the next 9 years she has several more operations on the tumor they said not to worry about because it is VERY RARE that it would bother her anytime so soon afte the first operation.
November 2006~ After more than a year of Kelly complaining of certain symptoms she is finally diagnosed with cancer. The doctors are stunned because a benign mengioma spreading as cancer is VERY RARE.
Anyone else notice a pattern here? I wonder if it is VERY RARE that doctors know what they are talking about. Just a thought! And for any of you doctors out there planning on writing me hate mail...bring it on!
So here is my other thought on my VERY RARE sister. I say everyone on this blog pitches in a buck. We take the money & buy lottery tickets. We take the lottery tickets & rub them on her beautiful, bald little head. If winning the lottery is VERY RARE, we are in!!!!
One last dilemma Miss Kelly Jean the Beauty Queen is dealing with. Now before I share this let me forewarn you. It may sound as if I have NO SYMPATHY regarding this last dilemma. You're right, I dont! It seems Kelly has put on some weight. Size 4 Newport Kelly is devastated by this. It is not completely her fault. Steroids are a bad thing for the svelte of heart. Ok, Ben & Jerrys aint so great either. However this horrible, awful, earth-shattering event has happened is not really the issue. Size 5 Char is there right now pleading with Kelly to come to her senses & starve herself if she must for the sake of looking good again. David is using the tough love approach. "Face it Kelly. you're fat." I believe even their Prunetucky neighbors have been heard periodically yelling, "For the sake of our yuppie neighborhood, PUT THE COOKIE DOWN!" I am mortified to have to report Kelly is now in a size.....gulp.....9!! The last time I was in a size 9...well....I WAS 9. So dear sister....GET OVER YOUR BAD SELF!
You may have cancer, clots & shingles you rare little chick. You may have even put on a few pounds from steroids & chunky monkey sundaes. But one thing remains the same. God doesn't look at the outward but at the heart. Everyone of us on this blog knows your heart. It is good & kind & loving. It is VERY RARE! Now go have a cookie! I love you~

Well I finally am looking at the computer for the first time in a week or two. Marla I think we should BBQ a few Doctors, VERY RARE. Kelly you don't have internet, you are so country-fied, and you thought the hospital was a bit backwards.
Well Vic didn't get to change diapers this trip instead she got sick stayed at her hotel(I only saw her Monday)and left on Saturday still feeling ill. Well guess who came down with it, yes you got it the ole man. He is super sick, in bed sick. Vic got home and ended up with the flu on top of the cold. Hope we don't have to got there.....Yuck. He fell on Sunday and I had to call the fire department to help me get him up, they said he is disoriented and can't answer any questions. I said yes that is normal I just need help getting him up.
Kelly you crazy girl you are such a "fat girl" not. I looked at my skinny pants and they are and 11/12. I don't think I have been a 9 since grade school, you look fabulous, bald and beautiful.
Did I tell you how much I loved your kitchen, it was so fun to cook there with my cousins. I look at my cool tea pot and think of a great weekend. Marla and Kelly thanks again, can't wait till the next time.
Kelly you KEEP ON TRUCKIN cause Marla and I are counting on a girls weekend soon. We will rescue you from the walls of confinement and cook for you. Of course we will eat with you too!
I love you cuz.....Cher

Hey Mickey it is just us so it is a great time to work on your computer skills, mine are getting better just checking in with my cuz. Dad is feeling a bit better and my thumb is not hurting as bad. Just numb now. Guess I am going to lose it. I went to a salsasize class tonight I know you would have all loved it...A little latin dancing never hurt anyone. So Kelly get rid of those shingles so we can do a little rumba next time I come to see you.
Hope your time with your friends was great. I know you were looking forward to seeing them.
Is that computer service up yet.
Anyway thinking about you with smiles. Love you Cher
